'The Last Member of an Uncontacted Tribe'
Illustration for The New Yorker about the indigenous man who lived in isolation in the Brazilian Amazon for 26 years. He was the last survivor of his tribe and was found dead in August 2022 by FUNAI agents. Having witnessed massacres and invasions of the land where he lived, he rejected interaction with outsiders as a strategy to survive.
